I am a noobi so please bare with me. In pro tools 7.4 (XP) I create a stereo instr track and load up the easy drummer, pick a groove and drop it into my track (set in regions not notes and in grid mode). If the pro tools session is at tempo 120 then every thing fits great but if I change the tempo to match the ez drummer tempo then the track is off beat and I can’t get the drag/drops to match up. I’m sure it’s something simple but is driving me crazy! any suggestions would be great. if anyone has any ways to create drum tracks with ezdrummer in pro tools that would be helpful too. Love the EZdrummer sounds!
Thanks!

Hi,
EZdrummer locks to the host Tempo, so I don’t really understand what you mean by matching the EZdrummer Tempo?
Are you sure you have your Grid set to Bars and Beats? Not Timecode or similar?
Are you working with a Tempo Track or just dragging the Tempo slider?
Is your MIDI destination Track Tick-based or Sample-based?

John,
If the tempo in the pro tools is 120, and the ez groove i choose is based at 85, and I drag it in my track, it works fine. But if I change the host tempo in protools to 85, then drag a fill or another groove, the beats are off. to change the tempo I am opening the tempo from the edit window and changing it and clicking ok. To get it right, i have to change the tempo back to 120, drag and drop and create my track layout, then change the tempo back to 85. My midi stereo instrument track is ticks. My grid is set to bars beats. Thanks for any help.
Hmm…what you are describing is just not possible unless you have set another mode than Grid -like Shuffle or Slip- or work with sample-based MIDI Tracks and change the Tempo.
Is there any way you can screen capture this for me?

John

Hi John, Happy holidays! Here is my screen print, you can see I am in grid, ticks, regions and track tempo is 125, but I’ve dragged a couple of grooves and a fill and you can see the gap between the grooves. If I set the track tempo to 120 it works perfect. Still scratchin my head. Thanks, Mark
Yes, but if you check the Main Time Ruler, you are working in ‘Minutes|Seconds’, not Bars and Beats.
At the very top of the Edit Window, please click the drop-down arrow right next to ‘Main 0:00:000’ and change it to ‘Bars | Beats’.
Best Regards,
John

Wow, well done.
This was really perplexing me too, and I couldn’t work out what the solution was.
John! You rock! Works great now! Thank you so much and Happy New Year!
