Hi all I am not sure if this is a Protools problem or a superior problem ?
When i was recodring my last track i was able to record over the same channel and add in individual hits as I needed them with out it overwriting the midi that was already recorded. I thought this was really cool and finished the track just the way i wanted it.
My problem is ive started to record a new song but now on the channel ive recorded the drums i cant drop in like I did before with out it recording over the original midi notes.
Any ideas how i can sort this out would be a great help 🙂
Thanks
Norrie

It’s something in Pro Tools.
I don’t have it open right now, but my quick answer is to look up ‘recording midi’ in your Pro Tools user guide.
Hi,
make sure you have the MIDI Merge button engaged in the MIDI controls if you wish to overdub, otherwise you will replace when you record new MIDI.
If you have the Transport View show extended MIDI, you’ll see it.
