Thanks to Dave for his response to my first post…
OK, I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled EZDrummer because in the original install, the dll file could not be found on the computer, anywhere (yes, I searched for it following the vidoes I found here first). I can now find ezdrummer in Sonar’s vst softsynth section, and all the RAM samples load the way they’re supposed to. When I preview a groove, I hear it just fine, so at some level, my audio card/interface supports the sound.
So, when I drag a groove into an ezdrummer track on Sonar, I’m supposed to hear it in Sonar, right? If not, am I not routing the signal properly, or is it a sound card issue, or something a newbie wouldn’t know what to look for, or what? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!

Found my answer, with some help from Obedia.com. I was dragging clip into the array of audio tracks ezdrummer creates, instead of where I’m supposed to…the midi file at the bottom.
