Hi, I am a new Toontrack customer. I have never had a laptop fast enough to trigger Toontrack samples until this week. I now have a second hand laptop which will hopefully cope with triggering Toontrack samples.
It is a 10th Gen Dell Latitude 3510 with:
- One USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port with DisplayPort alt mode/Power Delivery
- One USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port with PowerShare
- One USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port
16GB Ram
i5 processor
The hard drive is PCIE type which is where I will install Toontrack.
I am reading that the USB-C port is able to transfer data better than USB-A. Is the USB-C the port to use?
I am using an Alesis DM10 MKII Pro module which has a USB to computer port. Is this the port to use (I need to buy a cable with that port to USB-C) or is midi out to USB-C faster / the same / slower?
I also have an old Roland TD-10 and a Yamaha DTXplorer module which both have midi out.
Any thoughts on module choice? I am thinking of getting a Roland TD-17 – will this help the connection to Toontrack?
Any advice on the connections I already have?
I want to get everything working to make sure the hits are immediate with EZ Drummer first. Does it work out more expensive to crossgrade / upgrade to Superior Drummer 3 from EZ?
Thanks
