Welcome to The Dirty Loops Challenge
============================
Dirty Loops is perhaps the most famous ”piano-trio” in the world? EZKeys/EZBass/EZD3 the most famous Swedish ”piano-trio” software?
How do they stack up to each other. Can you make EZ-products (including EZMix), sound like Dirty Loops? You wanna try?
For this purpose we choose one of the most acoustic sounding peaces out of the DL-repertoir – Breakdown. (But you can obviously choose as many songs you like for your analyses.)
Here are some starting points:
Aron Mellergårdh – uses DW-drums and Sabian cymbals. Only uses sticks. Hits very hard.
F.x. you can find DW jazz series snare in EZ3 Main Room, pitch it a bit higher, add volume and perhaps add som reverb?
Henrik Linder uses Mattisson 6-string basses – which one would you choose for Henrik?
Jonah Nilsson often plays on Korg synths (X50/Kronos X), but for simplicity in Breakdown he mainly plays on a Yamaha Grand Piano. What els would you add?
(Settings on the Korg like ”Dirty EP”)
Jonah sings into a Neumann KMS 104 BK in this video.
Mixing in the DAW of your choice, try to restrain to using EZ-mix plugins except for Auto-tune equivalents on the lead-singing track.
This is a 4-part challenge. Try to finish the first or the second – or the second and the first. Add 8 bars and take part for the popular vote.
Only nice, humble and positive comments are allowed. ”Play nice” and you will be rewarded…
(Henrik Linder is not allowed to take part in the bass-challenge, as is Aron Mellergårdh not allowed in the Drum-challenge and Simon Petrén not in the Mix-challenge. For all the other challenges you are welcome when using a fake name. For avoiding close affiliation, Danny Saucedo is excluded in all challenges!)
