X XFor those who host their VIs on a networked Windows VE Pro7 server. Toontrack have quietly dropped support for VST in favour of VST3 only.
VE Pro7 currently only host VST & AU plugins. So, EZD3 is not a compatible solution for Windows-based VE Pro7 users.
When asked about why they have done this, Tech Support say it’s a “Development Team” decision, but that they “cannot confirm as to how or why they arrived to this decision”.
When asked whether they also intend to drop VST support in future Superior Drummer 3 updates, they say that they have “no plans to do so at the moment”. But given that Tech Support don’t even know why the Dev Team de-supported VST in EZD3 in the first place, I suspect that they remain perfectly ignorant on this issue too and are merely talking out of their backside.
Since I am not able to use EZD3 in my setup, I asked for a refund for the EZD3 Upgrade. Tech Support said that the unprecedented VST/VST3 support issue was “detailed in the Specification of Requirements” which was located at the very bottom of their 82 page promotion webpage for EZD3, where it was summed-up in the following brief statement, “A 64-bit host (with support for VST 3, AU or AAX)”. You’d be forgiven for not noticing the change from the previous ‘VST’ to the present ‘VST 3’.
Did anyone else discover, prior to buying EZD3, that VST support had been dropped in favour or VST3? I suspect not, as there was no mention of it anywhere in any of Toontrack’s multi-media promotional razzmatazz leading up to the May 3 release.
Toontrack are now refusing to take any responsibility for burying this significant and unprecedented change in plugin format support at very bottom of their 82-page EZD3 promo webpage and to add insult to injury, they have announced that, because I have already downloaded, installed and activated the product, they could not “process a refund or exchange”, even though the issue only came to light AFTER I had download, installed, activated and attempted to use the now non-existent VST.
So, I’m lumbered with a EZD3 Upgrade that I cannot use in my setup.
