I recently purchased EZD2 and am about to pull the trigger on a three pack of ezx packs. For drum packs with dry/dead kits so far I’m looking at the 60’s/70’s (a toweled kit), the uk pop kit (another toweled kit and great sounding demos in general), hip-hop pack (break 1972 kit), and southern soul pack. Also have my eye on some of the packs with drum machine sounds–no.1 hits, dream pop.
Just wondering if there are any others I might be missing. Not just dead snares, but also deadish rides. I’m having a hard time getting any ride sounds in the ezd2 kits that I like. Overall just too ringy in both kits for what I need.
Also, not interested in gating or processing, just naturally captured dampened/dead/dry sounds. I have played around with the mixer quite a bit and have gotten some tolerably dry snare sounds but the overall timbre isn’t there. The kits I mentioned above seem promising from the demos. Anyone have much experience with those kits? Here is another thread from 2012 that describes the sounds I’m after: https://www.toontrack.com/forum/requests-and-feedback/i-suspect-the-toontrack-libraries-are-missing-a-well-done-library-of-short-punchy-drums/
I’m guessing that some of the kits I have my eye on weren’t released when that discussion happened.
