Trying the EZKeys demo again months after I first experimented with it…
I am most interested in the randomize chords feature…. highlighting a progression in the arrangement lets you randomize the chords by right-clicking.
My question is… why isn’t this feature STAYING IN KEY… it’s simply creating a bunch of major / minor triads, that usually have nothing to do with one another, key-wise.
It would be great if I created a 4-bar simple progression, of all C major… and having the program be able to randomize to:
C – Am – F – G
or C – Em – G – Em
or Am – C – G – Em
or anything else, if my specified key was C.
Also, wouldn’t it be great if the program could also utilize different chord types in randomize, such as minor 7ths, major 7ths, dominant 7ths, and sus chords?
I realize this is “EZ”…. but I think these features would be MOST welcomed by many, many users.
Thoughts?
I never got this far to try that feature, but I can imagine it would be awkward. Until they figure out a way to smooth out the voice leading when you change a progression from its default status I’m not going near this product. A shame as it would be a sure buy otherwise.
EZKeys is pretty intelligent, but you have to expect to do some MIDI editing to get it where you want usually. EZKeys can get you 95% of the way there or better, but you can’t be completely lazy and expect miracles. That said, I have had amazing results without changing much of anything after I drop it into my host.
