There are a number of guitar VSTis / romplers out there, some of which sound great. However, there is not much out there for the non-guitarist or person who lacks great keyboard skills. Something where — just like with EZDrummer — you can audition patterns and paste the ones you like into a midi track as loopable midi clips, and have them play back through a first-class soundset. Only here, the patterns would be strumming, picking and lead patterns. Now that Steinberg’s virtual guitar is dead, the closest thing I’ve seen is RealGuitar, which has a great underlying engine and soundset, and does have patterns — but these are very difficult to use in quickly stringing together a compostion if you want to use more than one of them. The design is just very clunky, and it also has a number of bugs; what could be a lot of fun is just hard work. If it could be as easy to use as EZDrummer, I for one would pay good money for it. I’m sure you could attract a lot of ace guitarists from different genres, just as you’ve done with star drummers; and you could also sell different guitar soundsets, just as you now how different drumkits. So, please, either develop a product like this, or buy out Mr RealGuitar and drag the product into this century! Preferably by this Christmas.
