What version number shows on the EZD2 interface? Are there updates available? Check in EZdrummer 2’s Menu, go to “Check for Updates…” and Ezdrummer2 will tell you what you need to update.

And yes, you should be able to drag and drop MIDI from the browser to Pro Tools. If not, can you drag from EZD2 to the desktop? Are you running Pro Tools and Windows as administrator?

Thanks Scott I’ll try an update.

I can drag and drop but unlike EZ 1 I can’t find beats or fills which don’t have stuff added at the beginning or end, eg I can’t even find the simple’st snare roll 1234 without a beat preceeding it or comming in after making editing more awkward than in EZ 1, maybe it’s because everythings wrapped up in pre designed verses and choruses but EZ 2 appears to have less drum beats and fills than EZ 1, hopefully I’m mistaken and I’ll master it.

Is it possible to download EZ 1 again if I can’t get on with 2.

Sorry I don’t know if I’m running Pro Tools with windows a admistrator.

    Thanks,

    Nigel.

    A few things.

First, as you upgraded from EZD1 to EZD2, you have free access to the Pop/Rock EZX in your account. This is the same Pop/Rock library from EZD1 including all of the MIDI. Download, unzip, and install it. Then authorize it and you’ll have EZD1 (sounds and MIDI) within EZD2.

Second, you can drag MIDI into Pro Tools and edit them. If you want ‘just a fill’, drag a ‘fill’ groove and cut out the beginning so you just have the fill. I personally find the lead-ins to fills much more natural sounding. But, like I said, you can easily edit the lead-in out or use the MIDI from EZD1. You can even use the Song Track in EZD2 to drag a groove to from the Browser, edit the lead-ins out, use the Edit Play Style to make it even more simple and drag it back to the Browser into you own Favorites folder.

…I have been on the fence hard core about this upgrade. As stated by the original poster I have concerns about expansion packs and functionality. Of course there is a vast difference, I get that. However, for example, I have DFH on EZD 1. Will that show in the same format on the interface for 2? Or do I need to buy a new expansion pack? The reason I ask Scott is that you said the old ones will work but pull up the same as in 1. All apologies, but that makes my head hurt…and it’s prolly not a big deal.
I am running 64 bit on Logic Pro X in El Capitan.

    Thanks for any input.

One more thing…if I do decide to upgrade, per your suggestion, It appears I have missed a great deal of “updates” on EZD and DFH. Yup, I am that guy. Do I need to update both before I upgrade to 2? Sorry for being a moron. =)

One last thing. Is the upgrade to EZD2 still beneath what is Superior Drummer in its current form? Lot’s of differing opinions.

All EZX pack will work in EZD2. All EZXs have new graphics and presets to take advantage of some new features (fx) in EZD2. When you purchase the upgrade, you download EZD2 (full product) and then the latest update. Then you download and install all EZX updates.

No. You want to update all of the EZXs after you upgrade to EZD2.

There are things that S2 can do that EZD2 can’t do. Built in effects that can be totally tweaked and adjusted by the user. Full bleed adjustment. S2 libraries have many more articulations and are sampled to a much greater degree. The samples are raw and less processed or not processed at all.

EZD2 has things S2 doesn’t have. EZD2 has the Song Track to build drum tracks in. It has the Play Edit Style function for tweaking MIDI. The Browser can be searched using the Tap2Find function.

I will download EZ 1 as suggested. I’m very impressed with the drum sounds and choice in EZ 2 and I’m working on the rest but the pure simplicity of working in EZ 1 can’t be beat in my mind.
