EDIT: I found a way to load these kits, but I’m sure there’s a more straightforward way to do this.

This is the only way to change kit, and feels like a step backwards from EZD1. I think it would be better (and less confusing) if you selected drum kit from the top menu, and then a mixer preset from the Mixer tab.

The menu at the top of EZD2 (the orange field) is not just mixer presets. They are a combo of mixer and kit piece presets.

Selecting the kit presets from a kit piece menu is a 2 click operation. Once you know how to do it, it really isn’t that uneazy.

Well, it’s not uneazy, but its a pain in the rear nonetheless. The old kit presets from EZ drummer 1 should be there. I’m dumbfounded that they aren’t. Fortunately, I had Superior Drummer as well and I can still load the kits as intended by the llibrary programmers within that program. I’m going through the rather boring task of recreating them in EZdrummer2 and saving them as user presets.

To me, this seems like a baffling omission to what otherwise might be the best drum program ever. (And no, this should not be a non-starter for those interested in buying or upgrading. This program is a no-brainer, even with the one complaint that I’m voicing here.)

I’m having the same problem with “Number 1 Hits”. When I choose an option from the “orange” drop down, it’s only loading the mixer preset – NOT the kit. I don’t want to have to change all the pads by hand. That’s why I got EZDrummer – otherwise I’ll use Battery or Maschine if I want to get into all the customization.

The same problem has the same solution.

‘I can click an arrow on any of the individual instruments in the kit, and then click the Kit button in the little dialog that pops up’.

OK. Now this makes sense. To be very clear (for those like me who did not read this part of the manual), you choose the various factory-defined kits by right-clicking any kit piece. In the box that pops up, on the BOTTOM RIGHT, you will see the word “kit” with an arrow pointing down underneath it. left click the arrow and you kit a drop down menu that allows you to change the entire kit to any of the Toontrack-defined kit presets.

I understand this… BUT the confusion I have is which corresponding Preset(s) do I need to choose in the orange menu field for these kits to match the sound/operation of EZD 1.

Is it any of the ‘Version 1’ presets?

    Hope that makes sense!

The Default preset will make the kit sound exactly as it did in EZD 1 when you chose a kit. Any other preset however could be selected to change the sound of the kit.

That’s what I thought (choosing any of the EZD 1 Mixer Presets).

This was definitely quicker, and more logical (I’ve seen lots of questions regarding this on various forums), in version 1.

Just discovered this thread having bought the EZX Electronic months ago and never bothered using it as I coudn’t find the kits. Thank you UltimateOutsider !!

One question remains: I rely on MIDI program change messages to switch kits. Would I be right in thinking I have to select a kit with whichever mixer preset I want, then save that as a user preset in order to be able to select it via MIDI? Seems a bit of a painful way of having the add the 33 (or however many) kits there are into the preset list.

All I can tell you is this: I purchased EZ Drummer 2 with 2 EZX libraries, “Rock” and “Metal.” NONE of the kits from either one shows up, even when I click on an instrument and choose the “Kits” button. All that shows are the same old kits from the standard EZ Drummer 2. Somehow, the libraries still show up, though. Not really happy with teh “Easy to use” purchase just yet.

So, what are the steps you are doing to not get the kits to show in the menu?

    Did you:

    1) Load the Metal! Or Rock! EZX library from Orange library dropdown menu.

    2) Click on the kit piece dropdown menu and click on the Kit button. Select a kit.

Can you post pics of your expanded Orange library menu?

Well – I had no idea how to find the “old” kits in Electronic for EZdrummer 2. I have used Superior Drummer for that, because the kits can still be selected like in the old version. Actually I realised how to select a kit in the new version my accident. I was about to change the bass drum in Numbner 1 hits when I saw that it changed all the pads. A drop-down menu somewhere in the EZdrummer window would have helped 🙂

Thanks for a great drum software – I love it and I use it almost every day!
