    My conclusion after testing the Toontrack programs via wine and Botle in Linux is that these programs are not fully compatible in Linux no matter what Linux to Windows programs you use in Linux. The menus don’t open, they don’t work well as plugins in DAW etc. It initially looks like it works, but it’s just an optical illusion.

    Unfortunately, but for those of you who like Linux like me!
    Use Windows for music production, if you’ve bought a few Windows programs like I have. And use Linux for everything else like I do.

    Unfortunately, there are still many strange stories and prejudices about Linux. The fact that Linux is very widespread in the world today and is used by millions of people is proven by this link:

    https://distrowatch.com/

    I would therefore like to share some of my experiences with Toontrack software and Linux via Wine.

    I use Linux Mint Cinnamon on a daily basis. But I also use Windows11 for music production. Well, I live in Europe but I am the one who disconnected Microsoft, not the other way around. I only have a local account, Onedrive is deleted on the machine and Yandex disk is installed. I receive updates but that’s all.

    My experience with Linux and Toontrack software so far is that Manjaro Linux worked best with Wine with Toontrack software. The only program that was not compatible was ezbass.

    But it should be said, I have not tested ezdrummer3 and ezkeys 2 which I recently upgraded to. But it would be an idea if the Toontrack developers contacted the Wine developers to see what could be done! Because without a doubt, Linux today is significantly simpler and more stable than Windows11, and above all significantly faster.

    But I will test the latest version of Manjaro Linux today with Wine, and try to reinstall the music programs.

    I may be able to report back on this thread about how it went! But if people want the most freedom in this area, Manjaro Linux is probably the easiest Linux arch distribution for more advanced options for Wine and Windows programs. There is also considerable help and information on the Manjaro forum about all this.

    Here its another example for Ubuntu based distros:

    Installing EZDrummer, EZmix, etc on Linux Mint, using Bottles!

    But for those of us who play Norwegian, Swedish dance music and country, this program is a waste of money.

    I find basic beats that can be used. But the lack of intro and ending choices and not to forget the file in that rarely or mostly never fits the style of music makes this program completely useless for me. No, this program is too funky-rock-based to be used for traditional dance music here in Sweden. I am very disappointed.

    The only function this program has here for me is as an audio plugin for midifiles in DAW.

    Type “Drag midi Here” here under Grooves only gives options within the preferences that drummer and its content gives. This means that; if you are only looking for traditional Swedish, Norwegian dance music and classic country then it will largely be wrong. Wrong intro, wrong bass drum playing in “Verse”, wrong file in and wrong ending. Almost nothing has preferences to the original midi file that I dropped in ” “Drag midi Here””! I can understand this from the preferences that I register in Grooves and the midi storage.

    My conclusion is as follows;
    If preferences for traditional Swedish, Norwegian dance music and classic country had also been entered in drums 3 then the options and examples would have been significantly better for my musical taste. This is unfortunately a big problem for me who is a retired musician over 67 years old who today exclusively plays for the same audience and age group as me.

    So what I have to do to make this program work for my style of music I am still a little unsure about. Clearly this program is not as simple as I had initially thought! Almost all file in, intro and ending must be entered manually, as almost none of the program’s preferences in this area can be used. I suspect that I will probably encounter the same problem with ezbass and ezkeys! when it comes to music style preferences when importing various midi files.

    “There’s a number of genre specific MIDI add-ons in addition to the core MIDI files included with EZD. Could you give some examples: bands or songs that could be searched so that I/we have some idea of what you are looking for?”

    I did.

    In Norwegian and Swedish dance music, the drum part of the backing track must be simple with simple transitions, file in, intro and ending, etc.

    I can understand charging a couple of dollars to manage this license transfer, but 15 dollars! is pure robbery from their customers and supporters.

    No, I will “not” buy anything else from toontrack.

    EZbass vst plugin need it every time.

    I have also now solved the problem that there was no sound from the Korg M1 vst plugin when I, for example, changed the sound on the piano channel to the korg m1 vst plugin. I went into the Global midi channel menu. There the midi channel was set to 1. When I set it to 3 the sound came and Mixcraft could register it. I can now select all the sounds on the korg m1 vst plugin and use them on the channel in mixcraft studio. Hurray.

    No, unfortunately I was wrong. The fact that it turned out right was enough for me to use a different midi file.

    Well, today I have the same bass problem in Reaper that I had yesterday in Mixcraft.

    But I finally found the cause and solution to the problem. Something you should keep in mind if others run into the same problem!

    I found this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Reaper/comments/gl2fze/some_midi_notes_wont_playback/

    The solution is as follows;
    I loaded a midi file into a midi file editor, in my case MidiYodi and set the bass an octave up, but left the other tracks unchanged. I saved the file and louded it into Reaper. Then I changed the sound on the bass channel to EZbass and started the midi file. And yes, now the bass sound played correctly throughout the entire melody. Just to be safe, I tested several midi files that way, and no problem.

    Thanks for the reply. I’m now using Numa Player from Studiologic which is free, it works well for my needs and sounds just fine.

    Can i use this for vst in reaper? https://www.toontrack.com/product/country-ezkeys-midi/

    I found the error. Mixcraft is not a good studio for midi files. When I louded the midi file into Reaper everything was solved.

    Now I just need a vst plugin for guitar, piano and more! For the drums I use ezdrummer and for the bass ezbass. But just in case I haven’t found out where the path to the korg M1 vst is! because it doesn’t automatically get louder after scanning in Reaper. Just have to search the internet for it.

    Does ez keys have any good piano sound packs?

    You just referred to there being something wrong with the midi file, there isn’t. Why ezbass plays hard and ugly a few times through a midi file in mixcraft, I don’t know.
