Dear community,
I want to bounce a midi track with the integrated “Export Song as audio file”- feature. For stereo, this seems to work great. But I need grouped Outputs for Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Toms, etc. That’s why I go into “Mixer” and change from “Apply Stereo Outputs” to “Apply Multichannel Outputs”, so the mixdown will be the grouped channels and not a single stereo track. What I noticed though is that the Compressor and EQ being present on the Stereo Mix will remain on Out 1/2 after changing from Stereo to Multichannel. Those effects won’t be copied to the new appearing Out 3-26 though. Is this intended this way or is it a bug? Because what this means is, that the Comp an EQ formerly present on the whole set for the final stereo mixdown while now be taking effect only on the Kick. What does toontrack recommend in this case in order to get the same sound I hear while recording? Shall the Effects from Out 1/2 be copied over to the other output channels with “Option+Click” or is it better to turn those effects off on Out 1/2 as well?
Setup:
I am using the Radio Rock Yamaha Kit from the SD3 Core Library (1.1.3.).
Computer: Macbook Pro 2014/i7/16GB RAM/10.5.6.
DAW: Logic Pro X 10.5.1.
Hi,
first off – this is not a bug, it is how it works in any scenario – it applies if you use a desk or a DAW. If you split up grouped channels, the FX you applied to the sum will have to be copied over to the split out Aux/Output channels if those FX are a part of the “sound”. Note that the output will not necessarily be exactly the same due to different amount of energy going into e.g. a compressor but again, that’s just how it works.

John
