I bought Superior Drummer 3. What amazing songs it has wow! I’m impressed. Now usually I used in Protools the Xpand2! For example, in Sibelius I make my notation and then export to MIDI. That MIDI I import in Pro Tools and a new track for each instrument. My drums in Sibelius have everything well mapped, cymbals, kicks, etc. Then with Xpand2!, form example in drums, I select “Rock Kit” from the Xpand2 insert and automatically catch my drum mapping and hit hats, kicks, snares, etc. all is perfect.
This is the mapping I follow for my drums:
This is one example of my Sibelius drums:
Now in Superior Drummer 3. How can I make the same than with Xpand2!? Actually I loaded my midi track that and I inserted the Superior Drummer in inserts I see the Battery and you can hear if you touch in the picture of the battery, but if I play the track there is only one sound but it doesn’t catch the. appoint as Xpand2! does. Also I don’t see presentes as Xpand2! for rock, etc. types of drums. Then how can I make the detection of mapping and also there are presets?
A friend of mine has EZ Drummer 2 on Logic Pro X and I have a Jamstik MIDI guitar controller. When using the Jamstik as a controller for EZ Drummer 2, we want to reassign the input notes that EZ Drummer 2 sees when we play certain strings or frets. For example, when we play the open low “E” string on the Jamstik, we’d like that to be the kick, the first fret on the low E, the Snare, second fret, closed HiHat, etc. etc.
I believe from reading other posts about this on the forum that it is impossible to change the midi mapping for EZ Drummer 2 itself; but what about a mapped instrument ?
When we tried to create a new mapped instrument with the input routed to EZ Drummer 2, even when we change the output note in the mapped instrument window, EZ Drummer still plays the default note or drum hit.
For example, we tried to change the Snare side stick to the normal snare hit by changing C# input note to a D output note. This did not work. Is this possible with multiple instances of mapped instruments or 3rd party plugins?
Thanks!
Joni
So it’s not a big deal, but still:
I seem to remember in SD2 if you had a drumkit that had two kick drums, when you hit the right kick drum MIDI note, the right kick drum would trigger/animate and likewise for the left note/drum.
Now in SD3 no matter what you program they will both animate. You can press just the right kick MIDI note and the drums will go right-left-right-left etc. I understand that for most people this is convenient and doesn’t really matter sound-wise, but for control freaks such as myself I’d like the drums to play and animate as are programmed 🙂 so that if I want I can make paraddidle with the bass drum, for example. Kinda bothers me I don’t have control over this aspect of the drumkit.
I apologize if there’s a setting I need to turn on that I missed, but I can’t seem to find a solution for this.
Hi,
How can I get the MIDI file that is exported using Tracker to be exactly the same length as the WAV file(s) it was tracked from?
Currently the MIDI file that gets exported is cut from both ends as the original tracks have some silence on both ends and I guess the tracker’s export feature doesn’t think those silent sections are important. However, especially cutting from the beginning of the MIDI file becomes an issue as I want to use my original recordings side by side with SD3’s samples and I would need to align them perfectly together.
I didn’t have this problem with my laptop running SD2 a couple years ago, but I’m having it now. I’m running SD3 on a mac quad core i7 machine, High Sierra, and my USB is dropping out, almost like it’s going to sleep, but it’s at variable times. Generally around 5 mins, sometimes as long as 15.
I went into my barebones mac audio midi settings, and it sees the KAT3 kit, and it works with SD fine (thanks for the KT3 preset, much improved the mapping). I don’t have this problem with the midi mio connection, so I can use that, but I’d like the straight USB to work. I can’t find any settings in the KAT diong this. Maybe it’s that I’m not upgraded to Mojave. It could be anywhere in the chain. Anyone troubleshoot this before?
I make a track in EZ keys using parts from toontrack midi pack. Export midi track from EZ Keys and import in MOTU DP 9.52. DP is set to the same tempo.
The imported midi align up to 1|1|000 but then drifts. At bar 9 where the toontrack midi changes from intro to verse some notes are missing and the midi notes which should be at 9|1|000 appear at 9|1|058 – and later when I get to 27|1|000 the midi note and marker is at 26|3|423 the time signature marker 4/4 is right at 27|1|000.
What gives?

Over the years since EZdrummer 1 i bought quite a few upgrades, EZ2, SD2, SD3, midi packs, EZX – and SDX – expansion packs, 3rd party stuff like Groove Monkey etc. Some recent, some on ebay, and also from downloading updates for older bought versions and installing them. All ending up seemingly in a data mess with double entries, often with a different parent folder name but the same content. See pictures.
Tried to clean it up by hand looking at the folder files having only ‘-header’ as content, but i can’t figure out how the Toontrack system pointing to the ‘sub’ folders works. Is there any logic there, or better a separate editor?
Each time i use the internal midi base restoration protocols internally, either from SD3 or EZdrummer 2, i seem to loose all my user data settings. NOT FUNNY as some took quite a bit of time like edits from imported data from other sources like Groove Agent.
Hello!
I am using EZDrummer 2 and Studio One 3.5. I have a very simple drum pattern that I dragged from EZDrummer onto my MIDI track in Studio One. This drum pattern is a straightforward “volume swell” where the snare is hit progressively louder until the end of the measure.
When I look at my MIDI notes I expected that the velocity values of the snare notes would be different, but they are not (they are all the same, at around 99%). Yet, the volume somehow goes from soft to loud — in fact, I can’t even hear the first note in my mix because it is so soft. I want to change it but I can’t figure out how it is done. I even deleted the first note and drew it back in but it doesn’t help. I looked at MIDI data for “volume” and didn’t see anything there either.
Any help figuring this out would be appreciated.
Hihi Guys,
i’ve installed the package “Progressive Metal MIDI”.
After install the PM shows “install updates” – if i click, it seems to install a (beta) update (1.0.0 – seems the same installer?) for “Progressive Metal MIDI”. After installation the red button “install” is still shown. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the whole package – same result.
In details only the 1.0.0 is shown (full prod installer).
So possibly anything in the packaging or PM is not correct so far.
jfyi.
many thanks,
niels.
