    Hi,

are you talking about removing a mapped MIDI note to an articulation?
If so, just expand the MIDI Mapping Property Box on the Drums page and select the instrument in question, then right-click the note number and ‘Remove’.
If it is a MIDI In re-mapping we’re talking about, go to the MIDI In/E-drums Settings and find the re-mapped note/articulation and set it to it’s normal value, e.g. note 23 -> 23.

As John pointed out – the MIDI mapping for e-drums is best handled in MIDI In/E-drums Settings. There you’ll see presets, and can re-map, adjust hi-hat sensitivity etc…

We have implemented two MIDI mapping places – one in settings (as I described above) and one in the drums tab, as a drums property box.
The way you should look at MIDI adjustments in Superior Drummer 3 is:
    – MIDI mapping, velocity curve, Hi-hat CC in MIDI In/E-drum Settings changes things globally, e.g. “this is a general good setting for my e-drums”.
    – The MIDI mapping, Velocity curve, Hi-hat CC in the Drums tab property boxes changes things locally, e.g. “for this specific preset, I want something to be a bit different”…

It can feel a bit complex in the beginning, but we think that the advantages of this system makes it worth the added complexity…

Overly complex. I can remove a mapped midi note as John pointed out, which was massively unclear without his help. I don’t see any option to remove a mapped note in the global midi settings window though.

    Hi guys
I don’t know if this is a good place to add further questions in regarding mapping but, ill remove this and created a new topic in case it’s required.

I think MIDI mapping could be a lot easier if each played note mapped to a kit-piece / E-kit auto-select the mapped kit-piece in SD3 so when editing velocities e.t.c you’re always editing the correct one.. i think SD2 has this feature and it’s very convenient

Secondly MIDI Learn doesn’t seem to work properly when using it from the sidebar menu..

EDIT: Read in “Feature Requests & feedback” that mapping works differently depending on in where it’s used? and that was confusing at first.. Though the above problem seems to persist.. can’t remap from the sidebar menu, especially Tom’s seem to want to stick regardless..

EDIT2: Found where to save the new edited midimapping

    Cheers

Did you know that the items in the Analyzer in MIDI in/E-drum settings are clickable? Play a note on your kit and select the corresponding item in the analyzer, then you can edit the note.

Hit Tom 2 on your kit and then select the corresponding item in the Analyser (MIDI in/E-drum settings), then set the articulation in Edit MIDI Mapping and Response to Tom 2.

    Hi Guys
I too am having problems in midi mapping on SD3 I’m using Roland TD50 with digital snare, I can set up 3 zones in midi mapping and can get it correct on screen and tapping the on screen zones via mouse produces the correct results for rimshot, snare edge and centre, but I can’t translate that to the drum head. I can at best get two zones like rimshot and centre or r/shot and edge but not all three zones. I think maybe there’s a problem here that needs addressing by SD3 technical people. Hope you’ll look at this frustrating problem. I really think this area of SD3 would benefit from a video tutorial, all that I’ve viewed so far have been very informative and helpful, thank you.

Hmm.. i meant it would be nice if “MIDI mapping overview” scrolls to the selected / tied kit item so it’s always in focus.. Hit the snare and the Snare is highlighted in the list and put in focus for tweaking. did not know the stuff in the analyzer was clickable but even so i don’t find that to be particularly more useful than using the sidebar for these operations which to me is much faster and more intuitive

It’s no biggie as i just edit the template and save different templates to different kit’s depending on if i want floortom 1 or Tom 2 triggered..

But i meant using the sidebar “MIDI mapping tab” selecting Tom 2 in the GUI, clicking “learn” in the sidebar tab and hitting Tom 2 on the kit does nothing.. Every other kitpiece can be learned this way, but not Tom 2.. This note is for some reason tied to Floortom 1 per default and this doesn’t change if it’s not edited manually.. and when doing so i ran into another peculiar thing that led me to believe the Drumbrain was broken… Midi note “45” ( the converted note – not the note sent from the drumbrain) disappeared..

Hi Magnus. I think we need some more information to help you here.
    Which library are you using?
Which tom do you select in the gui? Tom 2, is that Racktom 2, or Floortom 2?
Which note are you trying to map/learn to Tom 2?
If you turn your e-drum mappings off in SD3, can you map/learn Tom 2?
What does the MIDI Monitor say when you hit your Tom2 on your e-kit?

    Thanks in advance!

I would just like to get my tomtom to sound like a tomtom and not a cymbal 😀

HELLO! I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT SD3? CAN YOU USE TWO DIFFRENT E-DRUM MODULES WITH SD3? I HAVE A 2BOX DRUMMIT 5 MK1 AND A ATV AD5. CAN I USE THEM BOTH AT THE SAME TIME? THANKS!

    Hi guys,

I apologize if this has been covered somewhere before, but if it has it is surely hidden well. I just want to build a COMPLETE GM drum kit, properly mapped with all the drums, different percussion pieces, etc. all in one kit. I have SD3 with Orchestra I and II. I love the sounds of SD3, but it does seem a little difficult to get started on your own.

I find the included GM kits, but they are nowhere near a “complete” GM kit with all the percussions pieces, they are strictly drums only. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Jeff
