    Hi,

though the standard kit setup is 3 rack toms and 2 floor toms, you can add more and custom map them.
The kits are sampled with different amount of toms:
The Gretsch has got 1 rack tom and 1 floor tom
The Ayotte Classic 3 rack toms and 2 floor toms
The Pearl Masterworks 4 rack toms and 2 floor toms
The Yamaha Beech Custom 3 rack toms and 3 floor toms
The Premier Genista 2 rack toms and 2 floor toms
The Ludwig 70s 3-ply Classic 5 rack toms and 2 floor toms
The Ludwig 70s 3-ply Concert 10 rack toms and 2 floor toms

    John

Thanks for the thorough response! This does help my decision making.

I would like to be able to compliment the very beautiful Gretsch and Premier kits by copying their toms into the empty tom positions and then detuning the copies. But that doesn’t seem possible now. Could that be considered for a future release?

If you mean to add the same toms already used as new positions – go to Add Instrument, select Search for Instrument and load the toms you want and tune them! Remember to press Process to get a natural sounding tuning.

When I select the default Ludwig Default Concert kit it only loads with 3 rack toms and 2 floor toms, rather than the 10 toms you mention John.  Why is this please?  I’m running V3.1.4

My go at an explanation (correct me if I’m off somewhere):

The Superior 3 factory kit toms are allt recorded in one of 5 fixed tom positions – 3 rack and 2 floor (if a preset contains fewer, ghost images of the empty slots are shown in the graphics).   The same goes for the cymbals that are recorded in one of 6 positions left to right. Therefore, if you want to use more than 5 toms in a kit (or more than 6 cymbals) you will have to add them as extra instruments, appearing in the top left corner.

However, as they were recorded in place in a kit, in one of the 5 positions,  by default the extra toms will appear in in the sound field at the same L/R position as one of the 5 standard tom positions unless you manually change their pan position in the mixer. As an example, my default kit contains the 7 toms of the Pearl kit. I’ve added the two smallest toms as extra instruments. Both are recorded in the leftmost rack position 1, so I have adjusted the pan in their mixer channels to make them appear further to the left of their original rack position 1.

    Hi,

I have a question – I have a Roland TD50 kit and added a few extra pieces with a DDrum DDTI trigger interface to connect the additional triggers. My entire kit has 7 rack toms and 2 floor toms (9 toms total) the TD50 kick and snare. As far as cymbals I have 13 total with 2 china cymbals and 9 various sized crash, ride and splash cymbals, an additional rack mounted closed hi hat  and an e cow bell., however cannot find a kit or way to add the extra pieces into any of the existing kits. Is there a way to add additional pieces and just change their notes? or does there have to actually be a slot in any of the kits for them to be active?

    Thanks for helping!

    Hi Dan,

just ‘Add Instrument’ in the left upper corner of the Drums page and enter filters to find the drum you are looking for, e.g. SD3 library+Acoustic+Rack Tom.
Then you will see your already loaded Rack Toms and available Toms.
Select one, click ‘Add Instrument’ and do like this for all extra instruments you want to add.
Go into the MIDI IN/E-drums settings to set up your custom mapping, starting from the TD-50 Preset.

I have a question about the kit configurations. I’m not sure if we can customize our drum kits to our EXACTLY liking, by this I mean, putting things exactly as we want them. For example……..

    super-1

I would like to use both drumming utensils together on the double bass kit, is there a update or patch you can put to make this happen with a rack system to surround them drum kit itself?

…a bit late but if someone is searching for this particular info; I have attached a screen shot of where I have first saved Octobans and Rototoms from the Hansa SDX as User Instruments and then added them as new Instruments in the Death SDX DenTex Preset. I have set the added Instruments to the suggested MIDI notes and if I had a Monster E-kit, I would have to make sure the module is set up to send these notes or re-map in a MIDI Preset on the MIDI In/E-drums page.Full_kitextra

    Hi,

if you mean that you wish to be able to graphically edit/put/move instruments freely in the room on the DRUMS page, this is not possible.
