No, that’s not possible. If you want to have them separated you need to use two instances of EZdrummer 2, set to two different tracks in your DAW. Then make the MIDI play snare center on one track, and snare sidestick on the other.

    Or get SD3

So how do you do it with SD3 ?

You would have to Add the same snare as a new Instrument (X-drum).
Then you would deactivate all its articulations except the SideStick and
assign the proper MIDI notes to it. In the normal snare you would then
deactivate the SideStick articulation. Then you route the mics of the
new snare to your liking, probably creating a few new mics in the mixer
    in the process.

Thanks but that sounds ridiculously over complicated for what I would have thought would be a simple thing. It must be easier just to go back to the ezdrummer thinking and have 2 drums tracks

No, it is not. But it is not very elegant, because you end up with two snares
and if you change or modify one of them you might forget to do the same
to the other one. On the other hand, that can be considered a perk: you
are now free to use the side stick sound of another snare.

Your were talking about the same drum mics but separated for different articulations
    1 for snare
    1 for X stick
In real world thats an overdub and or not possible as we know.
In this SD3 yes you have open options to do it perfectly and it can be done quite quickly.
EZD2 can do it if you are in a daw and can open two EZD’s
But Ollies point of Unloading articulations not playing or some Good midi skill is important either way.

doesn’t it get even more complicated if I use a groove.and fills I assume a pre set groove will want to use the snare from the main kit ?

Well thats one reason Ollie mentioned unloading the unwanted articulations on the 2nd snare in SD3.
However if you know a bit about midi you will know that the Xstick has its own midi number so with editing you can achieve
a beat played on a snare becoming a beat played only on Xstick for half a bar or 16….. Its just a bit quicker and easier to do it the way Ollie suggested.
But you still will find some simple cut and paste will be needed for editing. Its worth doing an experiment and it will become clearer.
In Sd3 you can adjust the velocity curve and volume, pitch of the original snare snares X stick or articulation separately too which helps negate the need to do all this in some cases, but if you want different reverb on the X compared to the main snare for example an X Drum is the way to go.

ok thanks.all. To be honest I haven’t used the x drum yet so as you say I expect it will become clearer when I play with it.

However the reason I love toontrack is it is so easy to use and although have good with computers I have spent too much of my life messing around with them. These days I struggle adding up the captcha sum at the bottom of this page

I do feel this ought to be simpler, after all in the real world it is very simple for a drummer to change velocity of the snare and sidestick.

Thanks again I will let you know how I got on and will probably need rescuing.

Note that the OP wanted to get the sidestick on separate channels in the mixer
so that he could process it separately. If you just want to change the volume
or the velocity response of the sidestick then you don’t need to use X-drums.
Those properties can be adjusted per articulation. You just select the articulation
    and turn the knob.

I think the way you guys have it in SD3 is pretty well perfect, Cant really imagine a different way

Hello, since a week, I play EZDrummer2 with Drumpads and “Fingerdrumming”from AKAI. It’s wonderfull, because I play it much more better than with Sticks, because I are not a Drummer, but my fingers are very speedly, bacause I play Guitar and Piano. When I make the snare louder, all Snaresounds are louder! I will play louder only the Sidestick? What can I do for this? Thanks and musician greatings to all, Peter Bengelmann

    Hi,

you cannot adjust the level of the side stick articulation separately in EZdrummer 2, as you can in Superior Drummer 3.
You can always adjust the velocity of your hits in your DAW.

    John
