I can’t change my email – when I go back after saving new email my old email is still active???

I can’t change my email – when I go back after saving my new mail address the old email is still active? after saving when I go back to the account my old not valid email is still the one it shows? This makes me frustrated I CAN’t change a simple e-mail address. What’s wrong?
