EZPro SDX

I like the concept of EZMix. Could you create another product: EZPro SDX?
EZPro SDX would focus on the sounds of Toontrack SDX libraries. the idea is to quickly find a basic set for certain type of music.

There could be a few anchoring points to select from, e.g. certain song, genre or age. You select one anchor and get a selection of ready-produced combinations of hihat+kick+snare. If you are happy, you can ‘send’ it to SD mixer, and start manually adding more drums or whatever.

Hmm, but basic drum sounds (like those in Superior) are the starting point for all music.
Same with brands, there are no kits that are specific to a genre.

I agree. But there are sounds that are specific to a genre, right?
If we think TT libraries not as kits but as a vast sea of sounds, we get closer. The sounds in the sea are basic sounds, starting point sounds.

Well, the producer presets are just that: presets designed by a particular producer. If you like the drum sounds the producer in question gets on records, then you would check out their ‘producer presets.’

The only thing I shot down is the idea that Ludwig, Tama or Premier are genre specific.

In the meantime I agree with Markham.
In time hopefully the producer pre-sets will fill this need.
A certain producer known for ‘metal’, or another for RnB etc.
They’ll choose the drum sets they configure from the Toontrack library, then use eq and fx to create pre-sets.

Yeah i agree ,but i don,t recall the first post actually branding kits into genre as you indicated,more just a flavour/genre database management,works for itunes,appleloops and some other drum program( drumcore.?).although i dont personally work that way myself .
SD2 and EZ have always been simple enough in approach and this seems like its complicated but some people might dig it.

I bought the Producer pre set, only because it was real cheap and to basically have a look. Very good, but the only thing that nags me with those things are these couple of points.

1/ Would you pass on all your experience and knowledge to a bunch of Ekit players with a ready made 100% nailed on sound?
2/ Would you hold just a little back, and let them work the rest out themselves?

I guess TT will say ‘No, it’s as good as it can be’ with nothing held back, tips, tricks, sounds their all in there. I just know if it was me i would be reluctant to pass on years of experience and immense talent to a bunch of guys i’ll never meet.

I’m not complaining by the way, as value for money goes they are priced right, and will no doubt be useful in the future for me. But that thought crossed my mind.

If we take 20 seminal pop songs from different genres and the TT producers create ballpark snare-hh-kick presets for them, it would cover my needs. There are certain attributes to every genre that create that distinctive sound, whether is miking, snare type, effects. Just give the ballpark sound collection, the idea of typical attributes for each production style. No need to reveal secrets, but best practices 🙂
