Adjusting ASIO makes SD3 crash instantly

Hi Toontrack. I got this fixed. Since SD3 kept crashing when I tried to adjust the latency on the ASIO driver, I opened EZD2 32-bit and adjusted it there hoping that the adjustment would save and carry over to SD3 which worked! Kind of weird and I doubt it has anything to do with SD3 (probably an issue with my laptop), but I thought I’d share this in case someone else runs into this problem.

Hi there Olliepudge, I’m running into the exact same problem with a focusrite Scarlett Solo that I just got set up. I installed the ASIO driver and SD3 actually seemed to be working really well. Then all of a sudden the samples all sounded distorted. So I tried to select the ASIO settings in SD3 to increase the buffer size, and everytime I click it it immediately crashes. This is the only Toontrack product I own, so unfortunately your work around won’t work for me. However, I might be able to change it in Reaper with the SD3 plugin turned on and maybe that will cause it to carry over?

    Hi zypher01,

I would definitely try that. I’m still experiencing the same issue unless I adjust the ASIO in EZ2 32-bit. Crashes immediately in SD3. It’s pretty annoying having to open another program to make adjustments. It seems that the ASIO drivers that come with our USB interfaces don’t function properly with 64-bit which is what SD3 is, but it works as long as I don’t adjust it within the software. Very strange. I thought about upgrading mine, but I’ve been checking this post hoping someone would find a way around this before spending the money. Perhaps Toontrack has some tips?

    Hi Toontrack,

I’d like to hear your thoughts on this please. Is it possible that this is an issue within SD3?

    Thanks!

I have asked the coders to comment here on this matter. As soon as they can rest from the coding, they’ll reply. Hopefully in english, rather than in some programming language 😀

    Hi Henrik,

Have your coders had a chance to look into this?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the response Christoffer. I’m computer stupid as shit, so I’m not sure how to access a “crash dump.” Can you tell me how to do this? All I can tell you is that SD3 crashes the second I click the ASIO tab under audio settings. It just says “Superior Drummer 3 has stopped working” or something like that.

    Hi Christoffer and Henrik,

    Any word on this?

Ok, if you get no crash log from the application itself you need to do this:

    1. Click on the magnifying glass in the lower left corner.
    2. Type ‘event viewer’ and click on it
    3. In the upper left corner of the event viewer, fold out the folder called ‘Windows Logs’ and select ‘Applications’
    4. Find your Superior Drummer 3 error in the main list (each crash should generate an item)
    5. Select the item and on the right side click ‘Save Selected Events…’
    6. Save as Event File
    7. Attach the saved file to a post here. Done 🙂

Thanks! If you double click the file you attached and look at in event viewer, you can se that it links to some other files, WER67.tmp.dmp for example. If those files still exists, please zip them together and attach them here.
