Anybody? Anything? This is really crap. I’ve also just discovered that I can’t use my C&V and will need to pay for and download a ‘remastered’ version of it just to use in my shiny new, as yet unusable, sampler. Love your products guys, very much not loving everything else. Surely you have support for your customers in the Southern hemisphere?

    Hi,

please contact Toontrack Support directly by going to:
    https://www.toontrack.com/faq/my-issue-is-not-covered-in-this-faq-what-next/
    and click ‘Contact Support’.
This will be the quickest way to investigate your case and see what can be done at the CDN.
We have been asking stuff via email, yes but we wouldn’t want people to post things like their IP address here on the Forum, that’s why it needs to be a direct contact.

The original Custom & Vintage was released in April 2005 IIRC, so it isn’t strange or unique to Toontrack, releasing new software in 2017 that isn’t backwards compatible that far.

    BR,
    John

    I don’t understand.
My Custom&Vintage was “updated” and works fine. (please see screenshot)
    What is a remastered version?

Glen Richards Richards is referring to the original C&V from the S1 era and not the current C&V SDX.

Yep, I didn’t even know there was a remaster until I tried to load it into S3. There doesn’t appear to be an upgrade path for owners of the C&V original. Does this mean I’d need to buy the whole thing again? If so, can you understand how that may cause some consternation? It is after all a recalibration, and already owning the add on I get no new content, merely a subtly altered version of what I own and regard as by far the best collection you’ve done. Still on 110kbs, still waiting for support.

The C&V SDX was released in 2010 and at that time there was an upgrade offered. That upgrade has since been discontinued.

Why? What possible reason? I had no need to upgrade what I’d already bought. I wasn’t getting anything new other than a bit of spit and polish. That was at least an option, now it’s pretty much a f u to a long time user. If there was an upgrade path I’d take it now because I’m forced to if I want to use what I’ve paid for. But buying the same samples full price just to use them in a redesigned sampler is robbery. I’m not trying to antagonise, these are legit ethical concerns. Still waiting on 2 support tickets btw.
the math required this time is 18, which is half as long as it’s taken to download 2.3gb

A product gets discontinued because it doesn’t sell. Perhaps at the time of discontinuation, no one was buying it. Or, Toontrack felt that those that wanted the upgrade had years to purchase since it was released 7 years ago.

For the record, the C&V SDX isn’t just the original C&V library. It includes the original C& V plus the Vintage Add-on library, plus a MIDI library performed by Chris Whitten. Plus the sounds are optimized and repacked in sound bunches for faster loading times.

I know nothing I say is going to sound reasonable to you. I know you feel stiffed. My advice would be to wait until there is an SDX sale and purchase. It’s been years but I think the update was $89. I’ve seen SDX sales for $99.

Thanks Scott and you’re right, nothing you’ve said sounds reasonable because it isn’t. As I’ve already stated I bought the add on too. Some extra midi and some mastering means very little. The newer Superior kits like the NY stuff and what’s coming with 3 are so god awful bland and modern rock, I’m massively disappointed by this effective theft of a large expensive library from my arsenal. That combined with yet another support email asking me for Internet details I’ve already means I will be asking for a complete refund. So disappointing after so many years of waiting for upgrades to the software that ezdrummer users have enjoyed for a long time. Bad faith

Sorry. I missed where you mentioned you had both C&V and the Vintage Add-on library. It’s not registered to your account. Sorry about that. You can still use your C&V library in S2. You haven’t lost use of it because you also have S3. Good luck with your troubles.
