    Hi,

make sure you download and install the ‘Sound Library Update & Presets’ update found under Part 1 of the SD3 Library.

I have also just DL’s SD3 and yes I dL’d the update …. and yet no mixer presets for SD3 or any of the 3 EZX expansions that I just bought.

EDIT: Opps looks like some of the EZX have em …. Is it just the case that the Core Library doesnt have Mixer presets in “Parts” and that they are specific to kits … like where you mouse over a kit and then there is another list and that is the mixer preset??

    Boo !!!

    Hi,

I am not sure I understand exactly what you mean but if you look at the attached screen shot, this is what your Preset menu should look if you have installed the Presets for SD3. In the screen shot the ‘Part Presets > Drum Kits’ is expanded.

Too see EZX Presets, you need to have the EZX in question loaded instead of the SD3 Library.

Hi Indeed … have it sorted now …I wasnt clear that all the mixer presets are asstached to the kits as veriation. I recently (last hour or so) watched a vid of yours where the guy uses “parts” of a kit variation and turns off everything but mixer and macros. Than you get that mixer preset. The EZX presets are indeed in Parts mixer. How ever the SD3 core aren’t (was kind hoping they woul be listed as seperated choices.

Here is the Vid:(he does it at abou 0:28 and it seems to be the only way to change mixer presets with the core library. They are not listed in Parts/Mixer like I was expecting … would be nice to have them there. (I added a screen shot also.)

EDIT wrong vid 🙁 … was in a play list ….is the right one now.

    Boo !!!

Yes, what he does in the video is that he clicks the little down arrow next to a preset name to bring up the ‘Select parts’ dialogue window.

    Greetings John,

Any idea why ToonTrack Presets show up in SD3 Stand alone and not when I use SD3 in my DAW (Cubase 10)?

    Cheers!

If you select a clean kit (1st in the drop menu) then the mixer will come up… clean.

When you select any of the others (eg GEORGE MASSENBERG/PREMIER) the mixer comes up with the settings (eg) GM used to mix this particular kit (seemingly a favorite of his and I agree). That way you get to see how he did it and can even use the setup as a start point, modify and save that as a user preset.

The menu PRESETS/MIXER always shows “default” as it’s only function seems to be to restore the mixer to clean default state  if required. The confusion is caused by the tick which should really disappear* when the mixer is in a non default state.  *Maybe Toontrack could change that in a future update?

I spent 2 days with EZ and then upgraded to SD3 primarily for 24bit but after two days I’m really into how much you can do with this incredible sounding instrument. The video where GM talks about the recording setup and the microphone placement plam make clear the boundless possibilities for sound sculpting.

I got it into one of my song mixes already and it sounds incredible, it’s really a game changer for me and I don’t regret the price which is very reasonable when you consider the men and means behind the project.

The software is technically very good and even the control panel dealing with download and installation works flawlessly. Thoroughly satisfied!

    Musical greetings and happy drumming!

In the first s/shot under Part Presets you see ‘Drum Kits’ then ‘Mixers’

    ‘Mixers’ only contains Default. Why?

I want to save a custom User Mixer setup to this list so I can swop out mixers at need.

Does the software not allow this?

The Mixer menu is there to support some libraries which comes with different Mixer setups.

You can’t save just the mixer preset, but you can save a Drums & Mixer user preset, which (as the name says) saves the drums and the mixer.

You can then select to only load the mixer part of that preset, by clicking the small down arrow next to the preset name (or right click) to reveal Select Parts…

In there, you select what you want to load from the preset.

Too bad nobody responded; I was hoping to find some SD3 presets from people who have been successful with setting up TD-30. As you say, I can’t imagine there is a lot of difference between modules.
