I would like to know this as well. I just purchased EZ Drummer from GC today, it was on sale big time. The onle discs in the box are for Superior Drummer and some expansion kits. There are no discs named EZ Drummer in the box at all. Just 5 discs labeled Superior drummer 2.0 and a bunch of expansion discs. Whats the difference between EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer? The receipt says Ez Drummer….

I’m not saying yours won’t work, but in my experience, the people at Guitar Center don’t always know what they are talking about. When I bought Superior Drummer 2 (several months ago), Guitar Center said the actual Superior Drummer 2 program came 100% from the internet. But it came with 7 discs! It came with an EZDrummer disk & I wasted a lot of time downloading it because I thought it needed to be downloaded for Superior Drummer 2 to work. If you didn’t pay for Superior Drummer, most likely the discs are useless unless you pay more money to toontrack. I was confused by this for days. When I bought EZDrummer for $30 yesterday, Guitar Center gave me a single disc (it said EZDrummer on the disc). I’m glad they didn’t give me more disks because I would have been confused once again.

Ok , I’m totally confused. Do I need to download EZ Drummer from their website before i install the Superior Drummer? Is there an additional charge for downloading EZ Drummer? Step by step would be appreciated if someone could , Thanks. I thought I had purchased EZ Drummer from GC, but it ponly has the SD discs, 5 of them and some expansion packs.

    sar2547,
Is this the first time you bought a toontrack product?

Thanks Aaron. Do i need to save the ezdrummer or run? Where do I save to and if i run it where can i find it again? Do I need to uninstall the superior drums first before doing this? Man I am totally lost. I will be using Ableton btw.

    sar,
Were you able to get authorization on your EZDrummer? If a toontrack guy doesn’t help you on this thread, you should start a new thread on the EZDrummer Help forum, but you have to prove you bought a toontrack product before you get past these pre-sale forums. I don’t believe you have to un-install Superior Drummer to make EZDrummer work, but I’m not sure. I’m 99% sure you don’t use the Superior Drummer discs unless you payed for Superior Drummer (I have never seen it less than about $150 at Guitar Center). Have you found a manual for EZDrummer on this website yet? I don’t know what you mean by “save the ezdrummer or run”. You download most or all of EZDrummer off the internet (I think), and then it saves itself automatically in particular files in your computer. I have never used Ableton, I use Cubase LE4. If recording stuff, I would typically open Cubase, then open a track that starts up EZDrummer & go from there. I can’t remember all the steps, because I haven’t done it much & I’m often fumbling around trying to figure things out.

If you just purchased EZdrummer (and not Superior Drummer also) you don’t need to install the Superior Drummer/expansion discs. What GC and other retailers often sell is what is called the ‘all products black box’. This box includes all of Toontrack’s products. You then receive the serial number for the product(s) you purchased at GC on your receipt. The other products in the ‘black box’ are provided for convenience as you don’t need to wait for discs to be shipped if you wish to purchase future products from Toontrack, you’ll already have the media and can just purchase a serial number and be off and running.

It seems from your previous post that you just purchased EZdrummer. So, go to the main Toontrack website, create a user ID for yourself (if you haven’t already done so). Log into this Toontrack account, go to My Products and select Register New Product, enter in the license you bought from GC and that should give you access to download the full EZdrummer product (the red ‘PC’ button which downloads the file named ‘TT106_EZdrummer_WIN.exe’).

I would download EZdrummer to your desktop and run the extractor from there. It will create a folder where the installer sits. Select the ‘PC’ folder and run the installer. After you’ve installed and authorized EZdrummer you can make a DVD of that ‘TT106_EZdrummer_WIN.exe’ file for future need. But, it will always remain in your Toontrack account if you ever need to re-download it in the future.

    Hi Scott,
I also just purchased the EZ drummer deal at guitar center (1st time EZ user). I downloaded the above info, installed, & authorized it.
Then I started to install the 5 DVD discs as well as the the 2 (blue) DVD’s with the assorted drum kits (thinking these were files for EZ Drummer). I noticed that I can only access 2 kits (Pop/Rock & Cocktail) within my DAW. When I tried to use the same authorization for the other kits, it said it was invalid.

    So, my questions are:

    1) Re: using the other kits….do I need to purchase authorizations to use them (Claustrophobic kit, Twisted kit, Nashville kit etc..)??

    2) Are the other DVD’s (1-5), the two blue DVD’s with all the drum kits, The Metal Foundry & Lost NY Studios all for Superior Drummer only?

    3) Should I uninstall the SD2 kits/sample (the content in DVD’s 1-5) until I actually get SD2?

    Thanks,
    Roro

    1) Yes. You can select the ‘Buy Download’ option from the Toontrack site and use the purchased serial number to authorize any EZXs you want to purchase.

    2) Yes. Superior Drummer expansion packs (SDX) can’t be used with EZdrummer. You can use both EZXs and SDXs with Superior Drummer.

    3) Yes. You can uninstall the S2 kit/SDXs if you don’t own them…yet.

Quick question. I want to purchase the EZ Player Pro authorization. How many computers can i authorizre with that. I believe you can do 2 with the EZDrummer, is that also the case with EZPLAYER?

Yes. 2 computers can be authorized with all Toontrack products as long as only one is used at a time.
