In S2, you can adjust the release (using the Envelope section) of the kit pieces which acts like damping them. This feature isn’t available in EZD.

I’m in EZDrummer2 and I’m not seeing the envelope section. I’m using the EZD2 vst in mixcraft, that’s not why I can’t see an envelope section right? Would love to fix this issue because the toms ring for a good 5 seconds and it’s mucking up my mix

No. You’re not seeing the envelope section because EZD2 doesn’t have one. The post above was referring to S2.

You can use the an expander to damp it.
No sure how to do it in Mixcraft but in Cubase/Logic/ProTools you can go to EZD VST and send snare to Output 2.
Enable that output on the EZ Drummer track and you should find additional in the mixer.

I would also recommend to create a group for drums and send all EZD channels to that group for mixing.

Once you have you snare in a separate channel go to the dynamics plugins and insert an Expander.
Set hold, rise and analysis to 0 and ratio somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8.
Then manipulate Fall parameter between 60ms and 100ms to damp the snare.

This is a major put off for this program…I’m actually considering ditching it for SSD5, which I have, but don’t use because I liked the EZ drummer interface…but the endless tom ringing is ridiculous. No decent drummer lets his shells ring on like that….unless EZ drummer is supposed to represent a beginner with no idea what he’s doing, lol…

Yes I agree. They need to update the ability to do this with at least the toms or create an EZX dedicated to dampened tom sounds.

Disappointing. Had I known upfront that damping the toms was not an option in EZD2, I would not have bothered purchasing it and would have went with Superior Drummer.
