yamaha dtxplorer with toontrack products..

I am wondering, if the yamaha dtxplorer will interface nicely with toontrack products..
 
I have EZdrummer, with nashville and vintage expansions…
 
and am thinking about getting DKFHS or Superior 2 when it comes out..
 
Do the products Toontrack SOLO, DKFHS and upcoming Superior 2, have templates for the YAMAHA DTXPLORER…

even if it didnt work…
 
I am trying to decide if this kit will suffice…or if i have to spend more money…..

If you search youtube you’ll see quite a few people who use the Yamaha ekits.

In the end it all comes down to how it feels to you or the drummer playing it. I am in the process of buying an ekit. I’ve played quite a few and the higher end kits, (like Roland, Hart and R.E.T) even though they are pricey, offer a much more fulfilling drum experience.

The major differences are in the # of zones per pad, the feel of the head and the sensitivity of each drum. Also the Hi Hat programmablity is a key factor for serious users.

Having said all that… yeah the DTXplorer works and may suit you fine.

I have the dtxplorer and I love it.
Using it with ezdrummer is not straight forward.
You cannot change the midi notes sent with dtxplorer and my personal opinion is that ezdrummer should allow you to map any midi note you want to any drum or cymbal you want. This is a fault of ezdrummer.

I have ordered the DTxplorer…and as I use Sonar, I will (i hope) just create a drum map within sonar…and should be good to go…

is this your personal opinion or a fault in the program? the first I can’t argue with, the second I must strongly reject… EZdrummer is a product made for entry level users and as specifically stated in the FAQ not ‘edrum optimized’ (the lack of custom mapping being only one reason for this)… unlike the DTXplorer which presumably is made with the edrummer in mind.

i got the dtxplorer today…
 
within about 30 mins, I had it controlling ezdrummer, with maps made for pop rock, nashville, and vintage and cocktail…
 
works like a charm…
 
the only things that didnt map straight away, was the kick and snare….but using drum maps in sonar …no biggie….
 
Its also really easy to compensate for velocity differences within the drum map in sonar too….
 
 
all in all, nice kit, works great with Ezdrummer…
 
now , if only i could play drums…8)

Do you have cymbal chokes working?? Or is the dtxplorer only deliverd with mono-cymbals (i remember something of that)

It only has mono pads for all the drums..
 
I have ordered a 3 zone snare and 3 zone cymbal pad…when they come, I can check out the cymbal choking…

i have my edrums working in Sess Drummer, EZD is a little less cooperative
I have the DTX III Sp

2. What are the best settings for the HH in the DTX ( trigger sensitivity and all that)?
