Superior Drummer + Logic + Roland TD-11KV

Hi everybody,

I have a Roland TD-11KV drum and Superior Drummer, and I have no problems hooking up everything and load Superior Drummer in Logic.

Everything works. The only problem I’m having is that if I use ToonTrack Solo — the standalone software to use Superior Drummer outside DAWs — I am able to access a menu that I can’t find when I load Superior Drummer in Logic.

I’m referring to the top bar menu Options » Controller » E-Drums.

Just for your understanding, if I don’t set this parameter, the expressiveness of the v-drum doesn’t work well — especially the hi-hat.

I contacted ToonTrack Support and this was their answer: “Since Superior Drummer 2.0 will follow the host all E-Drum settings would be through Logic. We would recommend referring to Logics manual on E-drum set up and customization.

Did any of you incur into the same problem? Do you know if there are any specific v-drum settings that I can play with in Logic?

From the Solo Manual:

Toontrack solo features a universal E-drums preset suitable for most electronic drum modules on the market. While specific presets may be added in the future to further expand compatibility, all modules from leading manufacturers should yield excellent results with minimal tweaking, if any, as explained below.

Note that Superior Drummer users are advised to use the features built-in to their sampler instead of those described here, for optimum configuration as well as avoiding double manipulation of the MIDI data received from the controller. In other words, leave the controller type as ‘Default’ and ensure no other options under the Controller menu are selected, and perform all changes from within Superior Drummer.

So, use the E-drum specific preset for your specific brand. It can be found in the pic below.
