Hi,
I am planning on building my own drum triggers. An important consideration is that they shouldn’t make too much noise when I hit them. I have tested fibreglass mesh ‘flyscreen’ to use for the heads, and it is pretty quiet and has good feel (is there something better? My first attempt was destroyed after 2 short sessions ), but I am not sure what is the best material for the rims. I would like them to be as quiet as possible, with a good response.
Any thoughts?
I haven’t tried them myself…

Clear Vinyl tubing 3/16″ ID 5/16″ OD for edge protection. Use small amount of Killer Red tape (or some other dual-sided extremely sticky tape) to join the ends. No need for gluing the tubing to the actual rim it’ll stick on itself.

Thanks, that’s kind of what I had in mind. Just wasn’t sure how quiet it would be. Guess I’ll just get some and give it a try
