The EZD1 to EZD2 upgrade was discontinued in December 2015. You would need to purchase the regular EZD2. I’ve seen it for $149 but there are periodic sales and specials happening from time to time.

Thanks. I will not purchase the EZD2 for full price. I will continue to use EZD1.4.

Yeah, I’m not going to upgrade either. Kind of stupid to not allow upgrades on the same version that we could have upgraded in 2014. If it was version 3, it would make sense, but going from version 1 to version 2 when there is no support contracts, doesn’t make sense. Had we purchased the upgrade in 2014, Toontrackes wouldn’t have made any more than if we were allowed to upgrade today at that price. Logic escapes me on what rational was used for this decision.

Question for Scott, how much additional money have people had to spend to maintain EZDrummer 2 after their upgrade from EZDrummer 1? I’m only talking about the base software and not any potential add ons. The delta should be the reasonable increase of the original upgrade price.

    Zero additional money.

So, if it is zero additional money, why not allow upgrades from version 1 to version 2? I would think you would get a few more dollars from people who won’t upgrade on principal, as I think the original poster and myself at least would most likely upgrade but feel it’s the principal of the matter and won’t.

I’m just a technical advisor and not responsible for Toontrack’s upgrade policy. If you’d like to contact Toontrack directly and discuss it further, please feel free to use the link below.

My issue is not covered in this FAQ, what next?

Make that another refusing to pay full price for an upgrade. That policy just plain sucks.

I’m not upgrading either. Dumb policy.

Just got a new PC with Windows 10 and I can’t use EZdrummer 1 or upgrade it? I would be willing to pay for an upgrade but since it’s like you are holding my expansions hostage unless I pay full price for 2 I gotta say maybe I’ll just stick to the drums in my Native Instruments bundle.

Kind of feel taken advantage of.

+1 for this. I would like to upgrade but to be made to full price sucks.

Hmm, thanks. Just found this answer. I guess I’m sticking with 1.4 for now.

Why do you think so many are using cracked products?

I agree. Stupid policy. I’m not buying the full version either.

Scott – Would it not be in your best interest since EZdrummer is in a sense marketing for Toontracks to carry the banner for your customers and work with Toontracks to get them to alter their upgrade policy? Post #1994679 sounds like passing the buck which tends to add insult to injury for customers who want to find an upgrade solution and are willing to pay a little more for an upgrade.  Thorne

PS – I also emailed Toontraacks and this was their response: “Toontrack Support does not have any control over the discontinuation of the promotional upgrade option for EZdrummer 2. It was available from May 2014 through the end of 2015 and there are no current plans for reactivating the upgrade discount.”

So it seems no one wants to take accountability for a fair upgrade price. I sure am on my way out and I only just started using the demo 30 minutes ago.
