I moved this over to this forum from the “help” forum since this appears to be where this stuff is discussed. I am using the latest version of EZD2. A friend has loaned me his Yamaha DTxtreme iis kit to use for some recording projects we have on the go. We did a couple of songs with a newer Roland kit that we rented and did not have any midi mapping issues. But with this Yamaha kit I cannot get things working properly. I reset the Yamaha module to factory reset and set the E-Drums midi mapping setting to “Yamaha”. I am still getting crashes on the hi hat and cannot get the ride cymbal to work at all (it is also a crash) The tom rims are also crashes and ride cymbal. This did not happen with the Roland Kit. What do I need to do to get this mapped correctly for everything to work properly with this Yamaha Kit? Or is it possible that this kit just cannot be used with EZD2? This will be a real bummer if I cannot use this kit with EZD2.
Okay, so no help with this issue here. Can anyone at least confirm for me that this DTXtreme iis kit will definitely work with SD2, and that SD2 has “complete” midi mapping capabilities to custom map this kit to work properly?
Thanks Brad for the reply. Apparently the IIS does not have mapping in the brain (confirmed by Yamaha) but the III does. Can anyone confirm that the mapping and learn functions in SD2 will make this kit usable? I hate to spring an extra $250 for SD2 just to find out that it won’t work with this kit.
Well, after much frustration trying to get this Yamaha kit to work with EZD2, I have finally concluded that it is simply just not possible. I don’t need or want to spend the extra cash for SD2, so this Yamaha Kit is (sadly) being returned. I guess all of our recordings are going to have to be done with newer kits, and probably Roland 🙁
I have the DTXtreme IIS and am using EZ Drummer 2. I installed the Yamaha USB/Midi Driver. I am using Windows 10. After installing the driver you should be able to Choose the Driver as the input. I plugged the USB cable directly from the module into my computer. Select ALL as the Midi Receive Channel and Yamaha in eDrums setting. You will need to adjust the midi note information on the module for each trigger to match the specific drum in EZ Drummer.
